The virtual currency you spend to gain power-ups is Mojo and you earn a little Mojo every time you play a session. Power-ups spawn randomly, but you have to buy them before theyвЂ™ll be active in a game. All of the usual scoring rules apply, although power-ups work a bit differently. Match three or more and youвЂ™re rewarded with points.

Should you play Zuma Blitz when it opens to the public (which should be sometime in December)? Hell yes - it's free and it's fun, and if you hate those things, then you're obviously a, um, fun hater.In Zuma Blitz you launch colored balls at groups of other colored balls with the same pinpoint accuracy you can in the downloadable Zuma. (And yes, I know that, as a for-profit company, making money is the point, but I like to pretend it's all about my entertainment.) That said, (a) the game is still very fun, (b) it's still in beta, and (c) PopCap has a great history of incremental improvements to its games.

Maybe it's just because I've been spoiled with unlimited life in Bejeweled Blitz, but PopCap seems like a company whose ultimate goal is to make fun and just happens to make money doing it - and this just feels a bit more mercenary than I like to imagine. Leveling up refills your life meter completely, and you also get the chance to flip a coin, with a winning flip refilling your life meter. You get a finite number of lives that regenerate with time as you level up, you earn additional lives and they regenerate more quickly.
